Come support Bur Oak Land Trust and Iowa's woodlands this Spring by helping remove garlic mustard - an invasive plant species - from the landscape! When: May 20th and 21st, 9:00am - 11:00am each day Where: Pappy Dickens Preserve Parking: Please park in the old Hy-Vee parking lot at 1201 North Dodge Street in Iowa City. We will meet you there at 9:00am and walk over to the preserve together. What to wear: Long pants and long sleeved shirt (recommended). Closed-toed shoes are required. What to bring: Water, sunscreen, bug spray, and gardening gloves (if you have them). Participants should anticipate around 2 hours of hand-pulling garlic mustard, an invasive weed. Expect some sloping terrain and the potential for poison ivy or stinging nettle. After the volunteer event, stick around for a free guided hike of the preserve by Bur Oak AmeriCorps members! Take a short tour and see what spring flowers are blooming! This is a free event, but an RSVP is required! Register below.
