DETAILS
Bring more biodiversity and more habitat for bees and birds to Iowa City with native plants! Native shrubs, like serviceberry, wild plum and arrowwood viburnum, are more resilient to the impacts of climate change, like soil erosion, drought or flooding, and return year after year. These plants also provide food and shelter for birds, butterflies, native bees and other pollinators better than nonnative plants. Please read carefully: Households can choose either a bundle of 4 bare root native shrubs, or for those without planting space, a container of prairie plants to jumpstart their gardens or liven their balconies all while giving back to nature. Limit one bundle or container per household. Households must have an Iowa City zip code to participate. This program is funded by a Climate Action Grant from the city of Iowa City. Plant pick-up will be in mid-April; time, date and location to be determined. For questions, email info@buroaklandtrust.org or call 319-338-7030.
