DETAILS

It’s one thing to read about the restoration work we do to improve local land, but it’s another to see the results for yourself. Join Bur Oak staff for a series of hikes that showcase the ongoing work our stewardship crew is doing at Muddy Creek Preserve in Coralville. Dates and times: April 4 |10-11:30 a.m. June 12 | 3-4:30 p.m. Sept. 19 | 10-11:30 a.m. Nearly 10 years after the 40-acre preserve was donated to Bur Oak by Barbara Beaumont and Kurt Hamann, Muddy Creek has seen its first prescribed burn, significant opening of its tree canopy and a recent burst of endangered rusty patched bumble bees. Muddy Creek is a great example of the positive impact of land management and we would like to share it with you. Things to know: The route will likely be slippery, have tripping hazards and may be steep at times. Come prepared for the hike by wearing sturdy shoes and warm layers. On-street parking is available (please follow street signs) and there are no restrooms at the preserve. Muddy Creek Restoration Hikes are part of the Bur Oak Hiking Club. A full calendar of dates is online at buroaklandtrust.org/bur-oak-hiking-club-calendar.
