DETAILS

Volunteers will collect whorled and common milkweed pods at Corriell Nature Preserve in Muscatine County. The milkweed seeds will be planted around Bur Oak preserves to establish way stations, or patches of food and habitat, for monarch caterpillars and butterflies. Each person will also get to take home a native prairie seed mix, including milkweed seeds, to plant at home and create even more resources for this beloved pollinator. The event is free, but registration is required and limited to 20 vehicles. When you register, please only list one attendee, even if multiple people are traveling in the same vehicle. When prompted to make a donation, if you do not wish to simply hit next to finish registration. Please wear sturdy hiking or work boots, long pants, and layers, and bring your own water. The event may be canceled or postponed depending on the weather. The address for Corriell Nature Preserve will be shared in an event email reminder.
