DETAILS
Winter is a great time to see signs of wildlife and Muddy Creek is home to many animals and birds, including a variety of woodpeckers. Join Education Coordinator Amanda Stallman for a 30-45 minute hike through the woods. Amanda will share the history of the 40-acre preserve along with some of its unique features. A bonfire will follow the hike. Hikers are welcome to bring coffee, hot cocoa and supplies for making s'mores to warm up around the fire. The trails at Muddy Creek feature steep and uneven terrain, and the ground may be slick. All hikers should wear sturdy boots or shoes that can get wet or muddy and winter layers. On-street parking is available. Please abide by area signage. Registration for this hike is required. Registration closes Jan. 30. In the case of inclement weather, this hike may be rescheduled or canceled. Check back here for updates. This is a Bur Oak Hiking Club event. To learn more, visit buroaklandtrust.org.
