Bur Oak Land Trust preserves are bountiful with a variety of mushrooms from morels to chicken of the woods. Through land protection and extensive land management, Bur Oak is providing space for mushrooms to thrive in eastern Iowa. Mushrooms play a vital role in our ecosystem. They create soil biodiversity which makes soil healthier while sequestering carbon, and as they decompose they become food for other plants and animals. Join us for our fall fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, hosted by the Webster. Chef Sam Gelman and staff will serve a five-course dinner with a mushroom theme along with a wine pairing. Tickets are $225 per guest. Thanks to our wonderful business sponsors, 100 percent of each ticket sold will go to Bur Oak general funds to support our conservation mission.
