You must be at least 18 years old to attend the course. This beginner-level, two-day course is a mix of in-class instruction and field skill-building, and includes the following topics: chainsaw safety, required personal protective equipment, saw maintenance, starting a saw, and basic chainsaw operation, including limbing and bucking. No experience or personal equipment necessary. No felling operations will be covered in this introductory course. When: April 6th 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. & April 7th 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca in Solon, Iowa Participant Registration Cost: $90/person Registration includes: -Two days of chainsaw instruction -Four meals -And shared overnight lodging Saturday night at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca. Participants staying at the lodge should bring their own linens or sleeping bag. An additional evening education program will be available Saturday night for participants. Refunds will only be issued if the course is cancelled. Participants must attend both days to complete the course. This program is offered thanks to a partnership with the Women's Woodland Stewardship Network through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
