Join the bioblitz and help us see what lives at Big Grove Preserve! So what is a bioblitz anyway? A bioblitz is a biological inventory or census. By taking a count of plants, animals, insects and fungi at Big Grove Preserve, we can better manage the land for those species. Bioblitzers will use the iNaturalist app on their phone or other device to photograph wildlife and upload their data. More instructions will be sent to participants before the event. Parking is not allowed on Starry Night Lane. Parking will be available at the Johnson County Conservation Cangleska Wakan area northeast of the Big Grove entrance. Signs will be posted for parking. Trails at Big Grove are maintained but include natural tripping hazards that may be muddy this time of year. The hiking route may also include steep hills.
